The Robertson Center for Science and Public Policy Announces Tax-Exempt Status
LA JOLLA, CA. - The Robertson Center for Science and Public Policy announced today approval of its application for non-profit tax-exempt status under IRS section 501(c)(3), allowing the organization to begin actively pursuing tax-deductible contributions to assist in project development.
Current Robertson Center projects under development include SOUND SCIENCE, a oublic access database program that assists public policy makers groups in making informed policy decisions and funding choices on science-based issues.. The Robertson's Center advisory board of legal and scientific experts provide these groups with up to date information on the feasibility and accuracy of scientific developments and emerging technologies.
"By achieving 501(c)(3) status, the Robertson Center is a step closer to fulfilling many of its goals," said Debra Robertson, Ph.D., the Robertson Center founder and member of its Board of Directors. "This organization was formed to assist lawmakers in developing public policy which allows the citizens of the United States and other nations greater access to the benefits of biotechnology and pharmaceutical research."
The Robertson Center is also developing its SCIENTISTS WITHOUT BORDERS, an research and development initiative which enables the establishment of biotechnology research capacity in developing countries by creating strategic partnerships and technology sharing between private and public organizations.
Established in 2003, by the family of Ronald Robertson, the Robertson Center provides information and policy solutions to lawmakers and public interest groups involved in developing science-based public policy which impacts public health.
